Thanks for your detailed solution, but what if one of my users get this exact same 0x80040600 error message with a non-exchange environment? I mean, what if she is getting this error when clicking the send/receive button in Outlook 2003 which isn’t connected to any exchange?
Hi! Since you are using MS Outlook 2003, you can use the Inbox Repair Tool(scanpst.exe) to analyze and repair .pst file.
You can find this scanpst.exe in this location:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033
Make sure to close your Outlook first before doing these steps:
1. Double click on scanpst.exe.
2. Browse on the Outlook file(.pst) you are going to repair.
For WinXP, your Outlook file is located in : C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
*Note: .ost file if you connected to Exchange
.pst if you have just only Outlook without Exchange
3. Click Start to start repairing the file. It will take time if your file is big.
4. After analyzing, click Repair.
5. Restart Outlook.
